About

The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory — Milwaukee's beloved "Domes" — is a Milwaukee County Parks conservatory at 524 S. Layton Boulevard, where three glass domes hold distinct worlds: the Tropical Dome with 1,200 plant species, the Desert Dome with arid plants of Africa, Madagascar, and the Americas, and the Show Dome with five themed floral shows a year (including the winter Train Show). Accessibility is well documented: a wheelchair-accessible entrance on the west side facing Layton Boulevard, automated doors at the Conservatory entrance and into each dome, ADA-accessible exhibits, accessible restrooms with Braille signage at the front of the complex, free loaner wheelchairs (limited, photo-ID deposit), KultureCity sensory bags, free Aira service for blind and low-vision visitors, and free parking with well-marked accessible spaces — though the dome pathways' grade can be challenging for manual wheelchairs and walkers.
